NOT FORGETTING ALL  THE VOLUNTEERS WHO HELP US DURING PRE EVENT AND ON THE EVENT DAY.

THE STORY
Sister Catherine Lai made a trip to the estate late May with the help of Ms Kim of Little NGO and Pastor Mageson. She was taken aback after visiting a few families. And decided Ti-Ratana MOW next trip shall head to this estate and to sponsor 5 needy families.THE CHALLENGEMany challenges during the planning eg. volunteers - would volunteers turn up on Saturday?logistic of requisites distribution, will there be donors?  an hour drive from the city and so remote know how to donors transport themselves and requisites there? 300 packs of cooked  rice!!!!!! can we cook and pack in time? approval for using the premise from the estate etc. Phew!........very very challenging (pengsan!) And this time our volunteer - Andrew managed to secure Chilli Espresso to freshly cooked a nutritious vegetarian meal for the Bt Cherakah Estate community. The owner Mr Robert Khaw has also agreed to sponsor to cook for MOW on a monthly basis....YEAHHHH...SADHU! Well, there's a will, there's a way...with combined group effort and good energy from everyone we managed to overcome all challenges.THE TASK Once we forwarded our email of the wish list items, we received of the sponsorship for the selected families as well as other requisites. Paul was kind enough to let us know on where to get vitamins from a pharmacy who  extend discounts for charity. We managed to get a volunteer photographer - Edy Loh from FB who took pictures during the event day...and many many more spontaneous kind response to our plea. Good things continue to manifest.... our biggest worry  was, will any volunteers turn up on Saturday? By divine help, we received phone call from Bro James Khoo from Subang Jaya Buddhist Association (SJBA) who got us members of SJBA (bus loads of volunteers...YEAH!) and not only that, the children of the 5 selected families were so lucky to receive additional goodies from SJBA - school bags with stationery, shoe white cleaner & school shoes. And they also came with 300 packets of rice!!!!
We have sisters and brothers from Wat Chetawan who came to the rescue too. They too contributed packets of rice, cooking oil and others to the selected families  The cooked rice was the last to fill up . Some of you got up early to cook the rice and it took several hours to complete the mission. With your generous & kind heart, all of you did it well and send to us ON TIME....sadhu! And some of you, bought the cooked rice with chicken ...WAHHHHH!!!! and some bought "nasi lemak"....WOWWWW!....what a big bonus for ! We only want plain cooked rice.....:-)  Our wednesday art n craft volunteers  help us to do repacking.

Bro Willis who actually walked in to hand in donation also came to help us to do repacking

Our volunteers from Art n Craft activities also help us to do repacking

Charmaine - a special child was also excited being able to lend a helping hand

Volunteers came as early 8am. All are given a role to play...Robin Hood,Superman,HeMAN,Ironman,Transformers....:-) ALL THE MAN POWER...yeah we need a many that morning!

And yes...we have an oversea volunteer from US- Al Fischer...And thanks Sharon for bringing extra hand and hope he could bring the goodness back to US

The Surprise
A little misadventure took place....Andrew our MOW volunteer driver almost couldn't make it on time due to hiccup on his food supplies business because he recieved supplies late but no way he is to deliver late to his client therefore it was a very scary moment then!

The reason why the need to mention this here is because we need a BACK UP DRIVER with GDL license to drive our MOW lorry. And if you have the GDL license, please volunteer yourself.Contact us.Currently we only have Andrew volunteering.....

THE JOURNEY BEGINS.....
At 10am, we leave for Bt Cherakah Estate, it was a long journey into the estate...Beautiful scenic to some, remote and far out to some.To some It was like a journey into twilight zone..........

After a few Kilometers of this scenery we finally reach our destination

We were not allow to use the community hall, however Pastor and Kim help us to rent a tent to put up near the residents' house

Children's MAN POWER from the estate

MAKAN TIME

Our volunteer Ms Su Lee - a leading stewardess with an international airline was "the chief in command "  today during food distribution

There were a total of 30 families served and each of them were given a coupon to redeem food

Youngest volunteer in the making!
After the food distribution, the 5 selected families were called and they were presented with goodies that was on the wish list on our blog
Bro IR. SC CHIM from  SJBA presented goodies  to one of the needy families

Adrian Lee donated a pair of sport shoes to Steve Raj for he is such a good runner however he never gotten a pair of good running shoes.....SADHU

Mdm Lee came to volunteer too even with her "tongkat"... she was happily presenting goodies to a family

Bro James Khoo presenting  school bags and shoes to one of the family

Aunty Mimi - representing members of Wat Chetawan was also given the honour to present of goodies to the family.Never too old to volunteer. Always young at heart.

One of the children from the estate presented Sis Catherine Lai with a flower garland...so sweet of them and Sister Catherine was so touched :-)

Supplier from Klang came in a lorry to present the selected 5 families the new matresses, tables, pillows & fans that were contributed by all of you......SADHU SADHU SADHU
Other families not in the list of recipients were sad but we ensure them that we will return to cater to their wish list

Lastly with all the good deeds accumulated by all. Since it was 'Father's Day' week we have a blessing ceremony for all Fathers, sharing of merits and transference of merits, performed by Bhante Visuddhi.

He found the inner peace while Bhante Vissuddhi chanted

She looked so serene and at peace upon hearing Bhante Visudhhi's chanting

After the ceremony we pay visit to some homes

Bhante Visuddhi was accompanied by Bro.Chin
This little boy must be wondering why Bhante Visuddhi wears a saffron robe

Bro Chin visiting Steve Raj house
Medals won by Steve Raj, we hope with his new pair of shoes he can be a future champion.

Pastor Mageson and his wife  have been helping the estate community to have a better life/future and he is also working
as a clerk in the estate to support his own family. While we left for a sumptuous lunch hosted by SJBA,
Pastor Mageson was busy loading furnitures/mattreses

Last but not least, we would like to thank SJBA for treating us and the volunteers to a sumptuous lunch @ Pandamaran..SADHU SADHU SADHUBelow is write up from SJBA's president  Bro IR. SC CHIM
Fellow Mitras,

On 18th June 2011, SJBA Welfare and Community Sub Committee, led by Bro James Khoo, organised jointly with Ti-Ratana Penchala Community Centre, Petaling Jaya to distribute food and other daily necessities to about 300 needy people at the Ladang Bukit Ceraka, Jeram, Selangor. 37 of our members left SJBA at about 9.45am by bus and reached the estate about 11.30am. It was a joyful experience to unload all the foodstuff, drinks, school items and others for the needy people there who were so grateful to receive them. Members of the Ti-Ratana arrived soon after and together we distribute the food and the other items to the poor people.

We also visited a few houses to get to know the residents better. They were so touched and the children spontaneously extended their hands to shake with ours. We rejoiced with them.

SJBA thanked all the donors for their generous donations for these needy people from Ladang Bukit Ceraka and say a big Sadhu to all those members who took the noble effort to bring the joy and happiness to those needy people. SJBA wishes to convey our appreciation to Ti-Ratana  Penchala Community Centre for creating the conditions for us to partake in this noble "compassion in action".

Before coming back to Subang Jaya, we stopped for late lunch at a restaurant at Pandaramaran, Klang. Our members paid RM20/pax for adults and RM10/pax for children below 12 years old for the lunch.

Happily we serve,
SJBA Exco
