Ti-Ratana Meals on Wheels to Sg Besi on 23 Jan 2011

Dear Friends/volunteers

Wishing everyone Happy New Year!

As the tiger slowly roaring it's way out and while the bunny is slowly  hopping  its way in to 2011, Meals on wheels will also be making it's first food drop off this year at a low cost flat to a homeless home community at Sg Besi before the Chinese New Year. The residents consists orphanage, old folks & single mums

This residents are taken care by this couple Mr & Mrs Veerasingam who looks after their welfare all this time. This is a great opportunity for us to light them up.

Volunteers needed

1) Food Preparation team - anything related to preparation for cooking (like cutting vegetables …etc) 4 - 5 volunteers to assist. Help washing of utensils after preparation is also required.  Need volunteers to come in on Saturday 22nd Jan @ 2.00pm to prepare for cooking on Sunday.

2) Cooking team (sunday 23rd Jan  @ 8am)- Need at least 4 - 5 volunteers to  assist.

3) Washing/clean up team (sunday) – some of you may not be following us for food distribution therefore we greatly appreciate your stay back in the home to wash/clean up the kitchen  before heading home.

And all cooking must end by 10.30am. Every dish is ready, need a volunteers to load it in our lorry immediately.


For those who want to help us in food distribution, make your own arrangement to meet us at the venue . We will need your help to set up, unload food, serving and back to the centre to assist cleaning up the remaining.Or if you know the way, you may head there directly. It is advisable to car pool as parking space is hassle during weekend.

Meals on Wheels  is not only about distributing food. Volunteers are encouraged talk, mingle, listen and provide some care and love to them.


You are also most welcome to contribute to the home in kind such as

-appropriate readingbooks for children (including dictionary),
-children's clothing (primary to teenage)
-stationeries - (ballpen - blue, black,red), whiteboard markers, pencils
- Exercise book - single lines, science note books A4 size, A4 sizes coloured paper

-toiletteries - soap, shampoo, toilet roll, washing detergent,

-Groceries -rice,cooking oil,milk,nestum, milk powder, condense milk, sugar,salt.... etc
- matresses (to be placed on the floor) & pillows.
- Folderable table for the children to do homework x 5 pcs

and...since Chinese New Year is just around the corner, you may bring them some cookies & mandarin oranges

You may bring above items directly to the home or send it to our centre by Friday before 4pm. Our centre opens from Mon to Friday , from 10am - 5pm.
