‘Gift of Sight Day’ project in conjunction with World Sight Day
In conjunction with World Sight Day, a collaboration of KL Eye Specialist Centre in Kepong with CIMB Foundation through Lions Club KL Bukit Kiara will be sponsoring 50 cataract operations for Malaysian’s poor and needy .
We at Ti-Ratana Penchala Community Centre are so fortunate for Ti-Ratana Welfare’s inmates to go for the free cataract treatment. In the spirit of sharing and caring we wish to extend this to all other fellow Malaysian who is underprivileged and in need of the treatment.
WHAT IS CATARACT
A cataract is a cloudy area in the lens of the eye. A normal lens is clear and focuses light into the back of the eye (see right photo). When a cataract develops some of this light is blocked out and or scattered. As this cataract develops, it becomes harder for a person to see.
Due to visual loss from cataract which significantly impacts the lifestyle of the individual, more so the poor and needy, let’s together extend our help to the improvement of their vision through this significant project.
1. Help us source for the prospective cataract patients from the underprivileged community, whose names submitted are subject to approval by Lions Club and CIMB Foundation.Where to find them?... ask around at wet market, old folks home, your poor neighbourhood etc
2. Assist in filling up the forms for patients together with photocopy of MyKad (both sides).
3. Forward all duly completed Assessment forms (please view attachment) with names of patients to Mr Jeffrey Cheah by email - jeffmachoman@gmail.com or fax to 03-77848002 for consolidation before 5th Oct 2011
Should you have any enquiries, please do not hesitate to contact us. We look forward to your kind support in this meaningful act of giving.

Nobody by themself can do everything, but everything and anything can happen if everyone come together to do something.
