Meals on Wheels 24-10-10 (Sunday)

Dear Friends & Volunteers

 
We will be heading to Kapar Klang.

Since Deepavali is coming soon (falls on Nov 5), it is also time to share and give to these 50 Indian families from the surrounding estates of Kapar a joyous and a memorable  Deepavali goodies.
Therefore,let us put our hands together to cook them a hearty meal. We are also collecting used and GOOD condition clothes or even NEW one for these families (adult & children's clothes are welcome, please separate them and exclude any inner wear). You are most welcome to donate other goodies such as rice, flour,toiletteries,cooking oil (preferably small bottle of 1kg for easy packing),sugar, salt,beehoon,instant noodle,garlic, onions,planta (small), muruku flour, can food (sardine,baked beans,soup), cereal,condense milk, beverages (3 in1)such as milo,coffee,tea,nesvita, vitamins C & etc....We are collecting for approximately 50 - 60 families. Items to be forwarded to our centre by 15 Oct 2010 before 5pm

If you wish to donate any perishable goodies, please forward to our centre by 23rd Oct 2010 at 2pm.
 

Volunteers help are needed as follows:-

Packing team
Volunteers are needed on 16 Oct 2010 - 2.00pm - 6.00pm. All clothes & goodies require repacking for 50 - 60 families.If unable to finish packing, we may continue on sunday 17 Oct 2010 @ 11am.

Pre event
1) Food Preparation team - anything related to preparation for cooking (like cutting vegetables …etc) 3 - 4 volunteers to assist. Help washing of utensils after preparation is also required.  Need volunteers to come in on Saturday 23rd Oct @ 2.00 pm to prepare for cooking on Sunday.

 Event Day
2) Cooking team (sunday 24th Oct @ 8.00am)- Need at least 4 - 5 volunteers to  assist.  Another team required to load packed goodies. 
3) Washing/clean up team (sunday)– some of you may not be following us for food distribution therefore we greatly appreciate your stay back in the centre to wash/clean up the kitchen  before heading home.
And all cooking must end by 10.30am. Every dish is ready, need a volunteers to load it our lorry immediately.
 
For those who just want to help us in food distribution, make your own arrangement to meet us at our centre and we shall convoy to Kapar by 10.30am. We will need your help to set up, unload food, serving and back to the centre to assist cleaning up the remaining.

 Meals on Wheels  is not only about distributing food. Volunteers are encouraged talk, mingle, listen and provide some care and love to the unfortunate.
